Wellbeing Group (incorporating Heart and Soul)

Personal and planetary wellbeing is at the heart of Transition.  When we are in right relationship with ourselves and the planet, we become part of the flow and rhythm of life.

"Wellbeing", as well as looking at the inner processes that help us to embrace change, aims to help us find our own rhythm and come to understand that whatever we do to ourselves, we do to the planet.  Therefore in taking better care of ourselves we make a valuable contribution towards the good of the whole.

Forthcoming Meetings

For the most up-to-date and specific details/directions for all of these events, check out "Events" tab every month (at top of opening menu) under the appropriate title/date. Suggested donations for all events £3 unless stated otherwise.

Monthly meetings will take place on the last Thursday of every month. Meetings will alternate between daytime and evening to give everyone an opportunity to attend. Focus of the meetings will be sharing ideas/beliefs/fears/hopes, and a topic/theme chosen by group members. We will continue to mark the seasons and engage with the land. We will also continue to link with other groups/projects/events where appropriate to emphasise the underlying importance of Wellbeing.
31st July - 7.30pm - discussion on Joanna Macy's work and how we can help people face change

28th August - 10.30am - tba

25th September 7.30pm - nutrition and mood boosting foods - how what we eat affects our wellbeing

30th October - 10.30am - Samhain! - Herb workshop with Andrea Hughes, Sussex Herbalist - making a winter elixir

Ideas for future events:

- mindfulness as a way of managing our busy thoughts in our busy lives
- soap making

- yoga and meditation

- walks outdoors
- and much more!
These ideas have come from people attending the group, and so I welcome more suggestions as what you would like to discuss, share, learn about to help you improve your own health and wellbeing.

I look forward to seeing you at one or more of these events.

Warmest wishes

Hi Rosemary,

Lovely to hear from you and pleased that you'd like to come along. My house number is 59 and I'm on the ground floor. I'm about in the middle of Northcourt road.

Look forward to meeting you

Yes - definitely! I'd love to get back on track with my yoga again. Baby massage sounds lovely. I know someone who does pregnancy and mom&baby yoga. Let me know if you'd like her details or if you want me to contact her to see if she is interested in running a workshop.

Thanks Ren, would love to see you soon, once we are back.  Two of the workshops I want to see happen is baby massage and yoga for pregnancy and beyond (how about putting your skills into practice with the latter?!)

Hi Steve

Went onto your blog and copied the "How to Build Community" - that will go on my Vision Board too, thank you.  I came into Transition after I did Brighton Permaculture Trust's "Building Sustainable Communities" 4 month course and this was my intent.  I personally love the name Heart and Soul but I do feel that Wellbeing makes it more accessible and broader.  I have every intent of including Heart and Soul level stuff when appropriate but I think we can take this so much further now, providing everyone is in agreement.

Thanks for your support.

love Pauline

Deffo a good move! Wellbeing has a real 'feelgood' ring to it and more people will probably understand it compared with H&S.

As it happens, I've just posted a blog about rediscovering a sense of community, with a nice little list: http://energydescentforbeginners.wordpress.com/2012/05/20/what-is-c...

Great work everyone!

Hi Joel

Brilliant, I'd be up for that.  One of the main thrusts of the Wellbeing Group would be to help people rediscover a sense of community and how they fit into it, preferably discovering their creativity along the way and their own rhythm of life.  I think you do that through the lens.  You could film group events and also those who run them if they were willing.

Re filming the individual stuff, I still intend doing more on the Oral History side when I have time!  It would be a great contribution to he EDAP, which is what Steve Last intended it to be.

love Pauline
